STOLEN LAPTOP RECOVERED USING REMOTE ACCESS technology
Aid Police in Recovering Laptop and Suspect

March 9^th, 2009: Las Vegas based AndersonPC ( Anderson Computer Systems, LLC ), working with St. George Police, have aided a client in recovering his stolen laptop. The laptop was stolen out of the back of an AndersonPC clients’ vehicle while traveling in St. George, Utah. 

“Our client had called with the hope that we could assist. He had some very important information that wasn’t saved anywhere else and needed some way of recovering the laptop." said Paul Anderson, CEO of AndersonPC. "At that point our technicians went to work!"

AndersonPC uses remote monitoring and management technology that will alert them of hardware errors and allowing them to remotely support their client base. Using this technology AndersonPC was able to access the laptop as soon as it came online.

“We setup alerts so we knew exactly when the laptop came online day or night,” said Ed Vidal, Helpdesk Manager at AndersonPC. “We then remoted in; and in the background captured information that would aid the police in recovering the laptop including taking a picture of the suspect using the webcam built into the laptop.”

“AndersonPC was able to gather enough information on the suspect for us to issue a warrant for the suspect and the search of his residence,” said Office Wilson of the St. George Police Department. “As a direct result of AndersonPC’s efforts we were able to recover the laptop and apprehend the suspect. Typically our only option in cases like these is to add the serial number of the stolen item to a database for possible tracking.”

“While we had not previously used our technology for theft recover,” said Paul Anderson. “We were excited for the opportunity to aid our client and the police.”

The laptop was recovered in less than a week after the client contact AndersonPC without incident.
